PRE-OPENING FAQ
With construction underway and founding memberships live, we're starting to get a lot of great questions about our facility launching in February 2026. Here are our answers, but bear in mind things could change a bit - we are a new facility and learning our community as we go. You can always reach us with any questions at hi@brooklynuprising.com.
What will membership cost?
We will launch with $135/mo as our standard membership rate. We will also offer day passes, punch passes, and annual memberships. Our punch passes will be a great option for climbers who are unable to make BK UP their primary gym - we want to keep the price per punch as affordable as possible.
What will the opening hours be?
We are currently planning for the hours to be 7am-10pm Monday - Friday. Our weekend hours will be determined by use, but we anticipate being open 8am-10pm Saturday & Sunday.
Will founding memberships include guest passes?
We're going to approach guest passes a little differently and won't be doing the “X number of guest passes every month” model. Any member will be able to bring an unlimited number of friends for free on their first visit to the gym. After that, we would ask that they support the gym by buying a day pass, a membership, or a punch pass.
Will there be a sauna?
Heck yes there will be. A 10’x7’ custom cedar sauna is in the plan. We will also have showers and a brand new locker room.
Will there be weights and strength training?
Yes, we will have several squat racks, free weights, dumbbells, hang boards, and other strength training equipment. Although the focus of the space will be on the climbing walls, there will certainly be enough other equipment to get a full workout in, even if you are not a rock climber.
Are kids allowed?
We will be launching with a 16+ age limit for the entire gym. We love kids, but we feel that having little ones running around in a smaller bouldering gym is just too dangerous for them and too disruptive for members.
Are pets allowed?
We are planning to be pet-friendly for members. We will have a pet policy that all pet owners will need to sign.
Will there be rope climbing?
When we launch, this facility will be only bouldering with no rope climbing. But we certainly have our eyes on some ways to bring more rope climbing to New York City in the future. Stay tuned!
